I feel like I have been posting a lot of vintage posters recently, but I just love them! Making a poster now is no big deal. We just get on the computer, arrange a few things, and suddenly it’s done (I am not complaining about that, especially when I need a poster for one of my events!). The problem is that they are not works of art any more, but just something quickly put together to get the message out. I think that vintage posters, while they had a very clear message that they were trying to portray, were really works of art in themselves. My recent obsession with vintage posters has led me to want to design and paint some myself. I will be posting these over on my painting blog soon, but in the meantime, check out a few of my favorite vintage movie posters I have recently come across.

I don’t think I have ever shared my Etsy shop on this blog. I am horrible about keeping up with it, but I just added a bunch of my vintage style oil paintings, as well as prints of some of my larger pieces. Go check it out, and I promise that I will do a better job of adding new pieces!
I am not going to lie…I love birthdays! My 30th is tomorrow, and I am a believer in celebrating for an entire week. Actually, my family always starts celebrating mine right after our Thanksgiving naps!
Whenever I have an art show coming up, it is basically all I can think about. My mind is totally taken up this week by Open Studios this weekend. So, keeping in the art vein, I found this great photo on Flickr of a woman drawing. It is amazingly hard, though, to find vintage photos of women making art. The most common images I found were of women painting their fingernails. Do you have any photos of vintage women creating any kind of art? Please share!
We spent most of the day hanging the work for tomorrow’s vintage affair! I am so excited that it is finally here! This event has been in the works for at least 10 months. Here is a sneak peek of how the gallery looks. Want a closer look, plus great food, music, and amazing raffle prizes? Then come out to the art & light Gallery tomorrow night!
